Canas emerges from the haze

With cricket dominating the air time, most people might have missed some stunning news from the tennis world (not readers of this blog I bet!). Two times in a month! Most players would be happy to do it twice in as many years- ask Roddick. Wonder what is going through Federer’s mind. He doesn’t really like losing (duh, who does?). And while most people would shrug it off as being in minor tournaments, Federer likes to win everything he participates in - look at the record! This isn’t a big scare or anything- Federer will figure the guy out and beat him the next time they meet and everyone will forget about the two losses. But he was on the verge of the continuous victories record and I had a feeling that no one would be able to meet the mark he set now. Sadly, the streak is gone but all credit to Canas for coming back stronger from the drug use ban. It’s good that tennis isn’t getting the cricket kind of coverage in India lest people start wondering if it is the end of the Federer era or something!

i agree that federer is a great player and much better than most contemporaries, but his level of domination is such that it’s boring!
i hope to see him win the French though (and break the Nadal monotony). but i hope he draws canas in an early round in Wimbledon and crashes out - wimbledon will become much more exciting then.

Federer may eventually figure the guy out, but these losses don’t look good with the French open coming up. After all he’s lost to a clay court specialist on hard courts.
Are we looking at a new French Open champion this year?

@Skimpy: Agreer on the French Open. And why is it boring da? Have you ever seen anyone play that kind of tennis? It is simply stunning what he does on a court. Yes, more competition would be good but I don’t think the tennis gets boring and hence, seeing him win doesn’t either. And I don’t see Canas beating him at Wimbledon
@ Guhan: Yes, new French Open Champion indeed - Federer (I hope)! And yes, the losses don’t look good but I don’t think it’s a cause for worry yet.
